THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of
God. The sixty-six books from Genesis to Revelation were written
by holy men of God as the Holy Spirit directed their writing. The
Scriptures were "God-breathed" and, therefore, inerrant. The Bible
is the divine standard by which all conduct, creed and opinion should be
tried.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
(We furthermore believe that the 1611 King James Version
of the Holy Bible is the preserved Word of God for the English language.
It is the time-proven and most trustworthy translation of the Scriptures
in the English language.)
THE TRUE GOD
We believe that there is only one true living God.
The true God is a trinity consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit. Each member of the God-head is equal in every
divine perfection. Each executes a distinct yet harmonious office
in the great work of redemption.
(Exodus 20:2-3; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30;
1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 John 5:7)
SATAN
We believe that Satan is the unholy god of this age,
the tempter, the enemy of God and Christ, the accuser of the saints, the
author of confusion and all false religion. He is destined to the
judgment of eternal justice in the lake of fire.
(Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:12-17; Matthew 4:1-3;
2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Revelation 20:10)
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is a free gift of grace
to whosoever will receive it in simple faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as
their personal and all-sufficient Savior. The believing faith required
for salvation comes as the result of hearing the Word of God and of the
convicting power of the Holy Spirit upon a person's life.
(John 3:15-18, 36; John 6:44; Romans 6:23;
Romans 10:9-17; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Timothy
2:5)
THE
CHURCH
We believe that the New Testament Church is a local,
visible, organized body of baptized believers. The church was established
by Jesus Christ during his earthly ministry and empowered by the Holy Spirit
on the day of Pentecost. The local, New Testament Church is the only
institution with the authority to carry out the Great Commission (Matthew
28:18-20) including:
1. Evangelism
2. Baptism of new believers
3. Discipleship (Training) of those new believers
4. Establishing of other local New Testament
churches.
(Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8; Acts 2; Matthew
28:18-20;
Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 5:23; Colossians
1:18)
The local New Testament Church should be self-governing,
self-sustaining, and self-propagating. The church has only two ordinances,
which are:
Baptism - Scriptural
baptism is the immersion of a believer in water under the authority of
a local New Testament Church as a picture and testimony to others of the
death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is, at the same
time, a testimony of the death to sin, the burying of the old sin nature,
and the resurrection to a new life in Christ of the believer.
(Matthew 3:16; John 3:23; Acts 8:36-39; Acts 10:47; Romans 6:3-5)
The Lord's Supper - The
Lord's Supper is a commemoration of Christ's death until His return.
The elements of the Lord's Supper (symbolizing the pure, sinless body and
blood of Christ) are unleavened bread and the unfermented fruit of the
vine (grape juice).
(Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-28)
SEPARATION
We believe that all believers are called into a life
of separation from all worldly, sinful, and questionable practices.
The Christian is to be separated unto a holy life that seeks spiritual,
heavenly and eternal things.
(2 Corinthians 6:14-17; 2 Corinthians 5:17;
Matthew 6:19-24, 33;
Romans 12:1, 2; Hebrews 12:1, 2; 1 John
2:15-17)
